NARRATIVE ARTICULATIONS
exhibition 2010 victoria college of art, victoria BC
Trained in the UK guild ‘mastery of technique’ tradition, the Articulation Collective are artists who study and exhibit together.
Annual study trips to special locations in Canada provide a strong sense of place for each member’s body of work, anchoring their separate articulated narratives so they read as a cohesive collection.
Articulation tells stories which are often irresistible to touch, and emotionally charged. This immersive experience is strengthened by the familiarity of materials. Human beings make decisions about textiles every day of their lives, experience them through every sense, and have a vast store of somatic memories to call on.
