The early architecture of this Gateway to the West, was the focus of this study, particularly historic buildings in the Exchange District in downtown Winnipeg. It also included the architecture of flowers after time was spent in the city's spectacular botanical gardens and sculpture park. Visits to the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Pavilion Art Gallery, Manitoba Museum and the Ukrainian Museum of Canada provided the background needed to develop ideas.
Articulation's session in Winnipeg resulted in an exhibition at the Mennonite Heritage
Gallery. The members of the group showed work which showcased their impressions of this western city. Winnipeg still has many turn of the century buildings and architecture was a common theme. As well, the fur trade , the immigrant experience and westward expansion were depicted. The city provided a backdrop for varied work all produced.
