War - a personal response
exhibition 2018 sidney museum, Sidney bc
The collective has been working towards an exhibition based on each individual’s experience with war. These works use artifacts which have become family heirlooms, in some cases from family members who saw active combat in the wars of the 20th century. Each display concentrates on family memories and stories often told by women who were left behind. Some works explore the broader context of disruption on a social and psychological level which occurs during war time.
Articulation joined the Sidney Museum on Vancouver Island, BC in commemorating the 100 year anniversary when the Armistice was signed ending World War I in Europe.
Each of the six Articulation members responded to different stimuli as they explored their own personal memories of war and how it has affected their family. They each installed a body of work exploring their personal war experiences. The Sidney Museum had many artifacts on display illustrating Canada's involvement in past wars up to today's UN Peacekeepers.
The exhibition was in the Sidney Museum, 2423 Beacon Avenue, Sidney BC V8L 1X5.
It ran from October 16 through November 29, 2018.
